SECTION MEETING
Coastal Regions Strategies

Summary

Achieving the objective stated by the Strategy implies the use of new management techniques based on application of integrated (intersectoral) management practices that can help to overcome the conflict between the modes of use and preservation of the marine environment on the assumption of an ecosystem approach that considers the marine environment as an integral unit and the processes occurring in it in relationship. The most successful set of tools for coastal regions management has been developed and tested abroad in the framework of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM). Thereupon, issues of development and adaptation of these coastal country conditions are scheduled to cover.
Besides, we are planning to continue discussions on the development of the country’s marine spatial planning as an effective method of functional zoning and strategic assessment of the possibilities of using marine areas.
